More than100 thousand people travel in the coastal line rail track daily. Another train was added to the line in weekends for the convenience of commuters. A new train was added to the coastal line rail track on requests from the public and on the instructions from Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva. A group of people including Minister De Silva and Railway General Manager B. A. P. Ariyaratne travelled in the train to Panadura, launching the new service. There is a congestion on this line during weekends as many people leave for their home towns. Tourists who visit south are another group of people who like to travel by train.
